Recent research and literature on how children and adults acquire a second language in natural as well as classroom settings; the role of learning in second language acquisition.

CIE 479 Teaching English as a Second Language. Three hours.

Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor.

Theories of language learning, acquiring a second language, and current linguistic theories. Methods and techniques are presented and demonstrated.

CIE 480 Methods in Teaching Foreign Languages. Three hours.

CIE 497 Internship in Foreign Language Education. Three to twelve hours.
