Tuscaloosa Chapter, Alabama Society of Professional Engineers Outstanding Senior Award. Annual award for an outstanding senior in engineering, selected on the basis of scholarship, extracurricular activities, and professional potential.

Capstone Engineering Society Outstanding Senior Award. Annual award to the outstanding senior enrolled in the College of Engineering. Recognizes a senior who has brought credit to the College and shows promise of bringing distinction to the profession. Selection criteria include academic performance, professional and technical activities, College of Engineering leadership, external leadership, and other activities.

Outstanding Contribution in Research Award. Based on departmental nomination, presented annually by the College for the best technical paper published in a refereed journal.

Outstanding Teaching Award. Based on departmental nomination, presented by the College to recognize faculty who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to engineering or computer science education through outstanding classroom teaching.

Outstanding New Faculty Award. Based on departmental nomination, presented annually by the College to recognize faculty with less than eight years' teaching service who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to engineering or computer science education.

Outstanding Dissertation Award. Annual award recognizing the outstanding dissertation in the College of Engineering.

Outstanding Thesis Award. Annual award recognizing the outstanding thesis in the College of Engineering.

Awards for Excellence in Teaching by a Master's Student and by a Doctoral Student. Annual awards for excellence in teaching by graduate students in the College of Engineering.

Awards for Excellence in Research by a Master's Student and by a Doctoral Student. Annual awards for excellence in research by graduate students in the College of Engineering.

Society of Women Engineers Outstanding Senior Award. This award is given to a senior who is a member of the society and is chosen by the other student members on the basis of service to the society.

Society of Women Engineers Outstanding Junior Award. This award is given to a junior who is a member of the society and is chosen by the other student members on the basis of service to the society.

Society of Women Engineers Outstanding Sophomore Award. This award is given to a sophomore who is a member of the society and is chosen by the other student members on the basis of service to the society.

Society of Women Engineers Outstanding Freshman Award. This award is given to a freshman who is a member of the society and is chosen by the other student members on the basis of service to the society.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Faculty Award. Annual award presented to a faculty member in the College of Engineering who has demonstrated not only technical and instructional ability, but a genuine concern for students. Usually, the recipient has worked closely with students through professional or technical societies and/or research.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Senior Award. This annual award is given to the student maintaining the highest scholastic average in the College of Engineering. Any student qualifying for this award must have been enrolled a minimum of two semesters as a full-time student in the College of Engineering and be within 32 hours of graduation.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Senior Achievement Award. Annual award presented to a senior in engineering who has repeatedly demonstrated both intellectual and extracurricular achievement. Selection criteria include academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, leadership, and other exemplary characteristics that indicate future success.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Junior Award. This annual award is given to the student maintaining the highest scholastic average in the College of Engineering. Any student qualifying for this award must have been enrolled a minimum of two semesters as a full-time student in the College of Engineering and be within 64 hours of graduation.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Junior Achievement Award. Annual award presented to a junior in engineering who has repeatedly demonstrated both intellectual and extracurricular achievement. Selection criteria include academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, leadership, and other exemplary characteristics that indicate future success.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Sophomore Award. This annual award is given to the student maintaining the highest scholastic average in the College of Engineering. Any student qualifying for this award must have been enrolled a minimum of two semesters as a full-time student in the College of Engineering and be within 96 hours of graduation.

Theta Tau Award. Annual award to the outstanding senior in the College of Engineering.

Theta Tau Outstanding Member Award. Presented by the Mu Chapter to the outstanding Theta Tau member who has given dedicated service to the fraternity.

DEPARTMENT OF AEROSPACE ENGINEERING AND MECHANICS

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Outstanding Senior Award. Annual award to a member of the senior class in aerospace engineering, based on outstanding academic achievement and participation and leadership in professional activities.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Outstanding Junior Award. Annual award to a member of the junior class in aerospace engineering, based on outstanding academic achievement and participation and leadership in professional activities.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Outstanding Faculty Member Award. Annual award to the outstanding aerospace engineering faculty member as determined by the students.

Charles Henry Ratcliff Award. Annual award to the outstanding undergraduate teacher in engineering mechanics.

Surawat Chaivirat Memorial Award. Annual award to the outstanding graduate teaching assistant in aerospace engineering and mechanics.

Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant Award. Annual award to the outstanding graduate research assistant in aerospace engineering and mechanics.

Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award. Annual award recognizing the contributions of undergraduate students in aerospace engineering and mechanics.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Central Alabama Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Outstanding Senior Award. Annual award to a member of the senior class in chemical engineering, based on outstanding academic achievement and professional promise.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers H. F. Johnston Jr. Memorial Award. Annual award to a member of the senior class in chemical engineering whose scholastic standing, leadership, and technical ability indicate outstanding professional promise.

Central Alabama Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Chilton Award. Presented to a junior with high scholastic standing who has demonstrated leadership and service to the profession through the student chapter of AIChE.

American Institute of Chemists Award. Annual award presented to a graduating senior in chemical engineering who has demonstrated scholastic achievement, leadership ability, and character.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers Sophomore Prize. Annual prize recognizing the student who has maintained the highest scholastic average during the first two years in chemical engineering.

Omega Chi Epsilon Award. Honors an outstanding senior in chemical engineering and Omega Chi Epsilon.

Dow Chemical Outstanding Junior Award. Recognizes a member of the junior class in chemical engineering, based on outstanding academic achievement and professional promise.

Eastman Chemical Outstanding Scholar Award. Recognizes a member of the junior class in chemical engineering, based on outstanding academic achievement and professional promise.

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

James M. Faircloth Memorial Award. Annual award to an outstanding student in civil engineering, for leadership. The recipient is selected by vote of Chi Epsilon members.

Keith-Woodman Award. Presented annually to an alumnus of the department who has established an outstanding professional record and contributed to the civil engineering profession.

Donald H. McLean Civil Engineering Professor of the Year Award. Annual award made by the ASCE student chapter.

Bibb Graves Award As Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant. Recipient selected by vote of civil engineering students.

Josiah Gorgas Award As Outstanding Civil Engineering Senior. Distinction granted by the faculty to a senior who has demonstrated superior scholastic achievement.

Edgar Boyd Kay Award As Outstanding Civil Engineering Junior. Distinction granted by the faculty to a junior who has demonstrated superior scholastic achievement.

George J. Davis Award As Outstanding Civil Engineering Sophomore. Distinction granted by the faculty to a sophomore who has demonstrated superior scholastic achievement.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Department of Computer Science Outstanding Student Awards. Annual awards recognizing the outstanding senior and junior in the College of Engineering computer science program.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon Awards. Annual awards given to the outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Engineering computer science program.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Fred R. Maxwell Jr. Electrical Engineering Prize. Certificate and cash award to an outstanding junior in electrical engineering.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Outstanding Senior Award. Annual award to the outstanding senior student member of IEEE.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Outstanding Student Branch Member Award. Annual award to the student who has made the greatest contribution to the activities of the branch and to the objectives of IEEE.

Eta Kappa Nu Awards. Annual awards honor the outstanding senior, sophomore, and instructor in electrical engineering.

Donald W. Burlage Award. Award given to a current or recent electrical engineering graduate student who contributed significantly to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering's research program.

DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

Institute of Industrial Engineers Outstanding Senior Award. Annual award presented by the Birmingham Chapter of IIE to a senior in industrial engineering whose scholastic standing and technical ability indicate outstanding professional potential.

Alpha Pi Mu Outstanding Junior Award. Award honoring a junior in industrial engineering whose scholastic standing and technical ability indicate outstanding professional potential.

H. Paul Hassell Jr. Memorial Award. Annual award to a student who has demonstrated technical competence, high scholastic standing, and outstanding potential for professional development.

George C. K. Johnson Industrial Engineering Award. Awarded annually to an undergraduate student in industrial engineering on the basis of academic record.

Wyllys G. Stanton Professional Leadership Award. Annual award to the student in industrial engineering who is judged by the faculty to have contributed most in the way of professional activities, service, and leadership in the current year.

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Pi Tau Sigma Awards. Annual awards honoring the outstanding graduate student, senior, and junior in mechanical engineering.

Herbert Kuenzel Award. Annual award by Pi Tau Sigma to the person (student, faculty, alumnus, or friend) who makes an outstanding contribution to the mechanical engineering program at the University.

Society of Automotive Engineers Award. Annual award to an outstanding student for contributions to SAE.

Mechanical Engineering Faculty Awards. Annual awards recognizing outstanding achievement by a senior, a junior, a sophomore, and a freshman in mechanical engineering.

DEPARTMENT OF METALLURGICAL AND MATERIALS ENGINEERING

E. C. Wright Annual Memorial Award. Annual award to a metallurgical and materials engineering senior who, in the opinion of the faculty, will make a significant contribution to the field.

Alpha Sigma Mu Award. Award contributed by the metallurgical and materials engineering faculty and presented annually to an outstanding metallurgical and materials engineering student.

Farabee-Tannehill Award. Annual award to an outstanding student in metallurgical and materials engineering.
